I recently have seen the number of assignments I get related to mental health news accelerate, and that’s no surprise given the national conversation. Mental illness is so stigmatized that large numbers of people who could benefit from treatment aren’t seeking it.
I was thrilled to be approached by the Entertainment Industries Council a couple of years ago and asked to enter my work for a coveted Prism Award. The EIC had just added a category for written journalism and had spotted some of my Healthline work.
I did not end up winning a Prism Award, but simply being asked to enter was a huge honor.
